Emmaüs De Bilt 'De Boekwinkel'

Organisation set up in 1984 and member of Emmaus International since 1987. The five companions at Emmaus De Bilt, a town on the outskirts of Utrecht, carry out the traditional activities of Emmaus communities: collecting, sorting, repairing and selling goods at low prices. Twenty two volunteers help them with this. The group owns a house, the first floor of which is used for accommodation, whilst a second-hand shop is on the ground floor. One room is reserved for emergency accommodation for homeless people. Nearby, Emmaus De Bilt runs a second-hand shop which specialises in selling books. The group´s third second-hand shop is devoted to selling furniture.
