Lairg & District Learning Centre are an independent learning centre set up as a charity in 2001 to meet a demand for learning at local level. They are a digital inclusion hub, support employability and accredited learning, administrate the Kyle of Sutherland Apprenticeship Scheme, offer room hire, hotdesking and printing/copying services in the local community and work in partnership with Lairg Larder to tackle food insecurity and food waste in the local area by hosting a larder shelf. LDLC have delivered a number of Climate Action projects over the yeas including a large scale Climate Challenge Fund Project (Season"s of Change) and are currently one of the 8 partners delivering the Highland Community Waste Partnership focusing on reducing consumption and promotion a more circular economy within the Highlands. They deliver a wide range of sustainability classes and events including clothes swaps, sewing and repair sessions, food waste reduction sessions, composting and growing, woodworking using reclaimed wood and set up the new Lairg Climate Café.
