The Volksverein Mönchengladbach gemeinnützige Gesellschaft gegen Arbeitslosigkeit mbH is a social enterprise that enables long-term unemployed people to (re-)integrate and participate in society and the world of work through offers of “Education - Work - Advice - Meet”. For this purpose, the Volksverein maintains offers for cooperation in the areas of second-hand consumer goods (furniture, electrical appliances, household goods, books, cell phones, CDs, shoes and clothing). Other areas of learning and work include the production of rapeseed oil as food, carpentry with the construction of furnishings for social institutions, the services area with the clearing out service, the operation of two school kiosks at vocational colleges and the organization of funeral coffees at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher of St. Elisabeth.
