The Diakoniewerk Duisburg is a social enterprise and part of the Evangelical Church. It is the carrier of various facilities in the departments of social affairs, housing & health / children, youth & family as well as work & training and has existed since 1979. Their target groups are people who are excluded from participation in social life, such as people who are homeless, addiction sufferers, refugees, unemployed, people with a mental illness, families in crisis situations. The Diakoniewerk is committed to the social participation of all people and is committed to gender-equitable and social inclusion in the world of work. They also operate the KadeDi department stores that sells secondhand products and provide employment opportunities for people who are distanced from the labour market.
