Traperos de Emaús Navarra, founded in 1972 in Pamplona, began as a volunteer initiative supporting Roma families living in precarious conditions. It now employs over 280 people and combines social and environmental missions, but still focuses on individuals facing difficulties to enter the labour market. It does so through the collection, preparation for reuse, and recycling of waste items. As part of the global Emaús Movement, founded by Abbé Pierre, Traperos de Emaús Navarra shares its commitment to dignity, rights, and environmental stewardship, prioritising support for the most vulnerable.
